Try These Relaxation Tips Before Your Next Appointment
Do you feel nervous or uneasy before you visit our office? If so, you are not alone. There are many people who experience some form of nerves or anxiety before they visit the dentist. We never want your feelings to keep you from getting the dental care you need and deserve. Delaying dental care can lead to serious oral health issues, which in turn leads to more time in our office. We want to offer some tips to help you relax before your next visit:
Be Mindful of the Appointment Time
If you have nerves before visiting our office, be sure to schedule your appointment at a time that works best for you. If you are rushing to visit our office after working all day, that may not be ideal. Be sure to give yourself plenty of time to get to the office because, if you are feeling rushed, your anxiety will worsen.
Avoid Caffeine
Caffeine can increase the blood flow in the body, leading to an increased heart rate. If you are trying to relax before treatment, that is not the best idea. We recommend drinking plenty of water before your treatment to be sure you are hydrated. If you need a warm drink, chamomile tea is a great alternative that can also help you relax.
Bring Headphones
Although we have noise-canceling headphones, you may be more comfortable bringing your own and listening to your favorite music, podcast, or audiobook to pass the time. Don’t hesitate to ask for our comfort menu. We have a number of amenities to help you feel more comfortable while in our office, such as pillows and blankets.
We never want nervous feelings to keep you from getting the oral care you deserve. If you have not visited our office for a hygiene examination within the past four to six months depending on the length of time we recommend, we encourage you to call our office located in St. Marys, GA and schedule an appointment today. Please express your feelings, and we will be more than happy to help you!
