Gentle, Thorough Teeth Cleanings

Many of our patients tell us that their cleanings were the best they’ve ever received and painless. Our hygienists are very thorough and gentle, and are concerned with your comfort throughout the procedure. Our friendly hygienists educate patients about the proper way to brush and floss.

Friendly Patient Education

Gum disease is the number one cause of tooth loss in adults. Our goal is to help you keep your natural teeth for life. Not only do our hygienists perform cleanings, but they are also here to give you friendly advice and educate you about how to properly brush and floss. They have charts, models, diagrams, and computer simulations to help explain why practicing good oral hygiene is so important to your overall health.

Ultrasonic scalers for maximum comfort and effectiveness

We use ultrasonic scalers to remove hardened tartar and treat inflamed gums. The ultrasonic scaler moves gently back and forth, producing sound waves to break apart stubborn calculus that irritates gums.

High-tech, comfortable gum disease treatment

We like to focus on preventative care such as patient education and regular cleanings. However, when gum disease does occur, we are well equipped to handle this issue.

Scaling & Root Planing

Scaling and root planing, also known as deep cleaning, are the first steps in treating mild to moderate gum disease. We start by gently and skillfully removing hardened dental plaque from your teeth—otherwise known as scaling.

To discourage bacteria from growing back, the roots of your teeth are then planed to smooth out the surface. Since it’s difficult for bacteria to stick to a smooth surface, your gums are free to regenerate without irritation. The gum tissue will start to shrink, tighten, and eventually reattach to the teeth.

Eliminating Bacteria

ARESTIN® therapy consists of placing tiny microspheres filled with a powerful, time-release antibiotic between the teeth and gums to help eliminate any bacteria that may remain after a scaling and planing procedure.

In addition to local antibiotic therapy with ARESTIN®, we also use systemic oral antibiotics when necessary.
