Tips to Help Your Teeth Stay Healthy This Summer
Are you enjoying the summer? We hope that you answered yes, because we at Parker and Pennington Dentistry are definitely enjoying this summer. We know that many of our patients have big plans to make up for all they missed out on last summer. You may have rescheduled a big event such as a wedding, are heading to a vacation with family, or maybe you are enjoying some relaxation in your own backyard. No matter what you are doing, we want to help ensure that your oral health doesn’t interfere with your plans.
Schedule a Missed Appointment
Summer is the perfect time to schedule an appointment that you might have missed or cancelled due to your busy schedule. We also still have patients who need to schedule their routine hygiene examination due to not feeling comfortable visiting our office last year. We want to give a gentle reminder that delaying dental care can lead to costly emergencies. The last thing we want to hear is that you are experiencing a dental emergency while on vacation or before a big life event. During routine exams, we check the mouth for any issues with decay as well as inspect for other issues such as gum disease and oral cancer.
Pack Essentials
We know that it can be overwhelming packing and preparing for a vacation, especially if you have to prepare your family as well. We want to give a reminder to be sure to pack all of your hygiene essentials before traveling. This is particularly important if you are flying to a destination such as an island. If you forget something it can be difficult to find a store that will carry what you need. Be sure to pack toothbrushes, toothpaste, mouthwash, dental floss, and any accessories that you might need for any hardware such as dentures, Invisalign®, or braces.
Other Tips to Keep in Mind
We also suggest being sure to continue with your oral hygiene such as brushing thoroughly and flossing even during busy times or long summer nights. We also want to remind you to eat sugar in moderation, and if you consume alcohol or eat frequent snacks, to increase your daily brushing to ward off decay that may develop.
We hope that you have a wonderful, fun, and healthy summer. If you need to schedule a routine hygiene examination, or experience an emergency, be sure to call us at our office located in St. Marys, GA. We look forward to seeing you at your next appointment.
