Summer is a time of year when life seems to relax a little. School is out, many activities are postponed until fall, and work schedules may be a bit lighter. Now is the perfect time to schedule your next oral hygiene examination or recommended treatment. We would love to see you before the hustle and bustle of the fall begins again.
Plan For Travel
From speaking with our patients, we know that many have fantastic trips planned this summer. When packing for travel, it is important that you bring any dental care items you may need for your trip. Depending on your destination, it may be difficult to get to a store that will have the supplies you need. Be sure to pack your toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss, and mouthwash. If you are currently using hardware for your oral health, such as clear aligners or a mouthguard, it is imperative that you bring what you need. Failure to bring those items can result in complications with your treatment plan.
Limit Sugary Foods and Beverages
Summer and vacations are a time to indulge, but it is important to do that within reason, especially with the foods and beverages you consume. You would be surprised at how quickly decay and other oral health issues can develop when your teeth and mouth are not being cared for properly. When it is extremely hot, it can be easy to consume drinks that are high in sugar, such as alcoholic beverages, sports drinks, and soft drinks. We recommend skipping the sugary drinks and choosing water instead.
