Which Tooth Replacement Option Is Best For You?
Are you self-conscious because you are missing a tooth or multiple teeth? We know that it can be heartbreaking when a tooth needs to be extracted. It doesn’t matter if the tooth is extracted due to decay, a medical condition, or an accident, it can still be upsetting. However, the sadness doesn’t need to last long. There are multiple tooth replacement options available. Gone are the days of only one option to replace missing teeth. The replacement options of today closely resemble your natural teeth.
Even with multiple tooth replacement options, it can be difficult making the decision which option is best for your lifestyle and budget. We work with our patients to answer all of their questions. At Parker and Pennington Dentistry, we consider what is in our patient’s best interest when we suggest a tooth replacement option.
Tooth Replacement Options
Dental Implants
A dental implant is a permanent tooth replacement option that mimics the function and appearance of a natural tooth. An artificial tooth root is surgically implanted into the jawbone and completed with a dental crown on top. This option is usually our first recommendation to patients because of all the benefits it offers.
Dentures
This option is used for patients who do not feel comfortable with dental implants. Our office uses a custom denture process that does not require adhesives and that looks extremely natural.
Fixed Implant Bridges
This is one of the best options when needing to replace multiple teeth. Fixed implant bridges closely resemble natural teeth. They also help deter bone deterioration, which is a benefit.
We know that any option you choose is a big decision, especially if you need to replace multiple teeth. In unique circumstances, we work with our patients to complete the work over time to spread out costs. In this case, temporary restorations may be needed while the dental work is being completed in stages.
