The Importance Of Routine Dental Care
At Parker & Pennington Dentistry, we stress the importance of routine dental care. We encourage every patient to visit us for a hygiene examination and cleaning a minimum of every six months. Some patients who are receiving certain treatments or being monitored may be required to visit more often than six months. With the start of the new year, now is the perfect time to reflect on your last hygiene appointment. If it has been longer than six months since we have seen you, it is time for a visit! We also encourage you to think about the goals you have for your oral health during the next year. Are there any treatments or problems in the mouth you would like to treat?
Avoid a Dental Emergency
We would much prefer our patients to be proactive about their dental health rather than reactive. Even patients who take excellent care of their teeth by brushing and flossing thoroughly are still in need of regular maintenance appointments. When dental care is delayed or postponed, you increase the likelihood of experiencing a dental emergency. If we notice a problem area in your mouth, we will recommend immediate treatment. The longer a problem such as decay is allowed to remain untreated in the mouth, the greater the chance you have of not only experiencing a dental emergency but also needing additional treatments. Not only are you setting yourself up to experience unnecessary discomfort and difficulty, but you may be looking at added expenses as well.
Be Honest
If you have been postponing treatment due to your nerves and anxiety about visiting our office, be sure to be honest with our team. We think of our patients like family, and we want to be sure everyone feels comfortable while under our care.
