Cosmetic Dentistry in St. Marys

 Beautiful, natural smiles

Cosmetic dentistry is the art and science of rejuvenating your smile through procedures such as teeth straightening, porcelain veneers, teeth whitening and tooth-colored fillings. With a fresh, bright, straight smile, you can feel more confident and attractive.

Advanced training and experience

Dr. Parker and Dr. Pennington both have extensive experience with the cosmetic procedures used to revitalize your smile. They have participated in post-doctorate courses in cosmetic dentistry at the prestigious Los Vegas Institute, renowned for advanced courses in cosmetic procedures.

In addition, both doctors have taken courses at the American Academy for Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), and Dr. Pennington worked with a past president of the AACD early in his career.

Fast results

Lengthy treatment isn’t always necessary for a beautiful smile makeover. Many times whitening teeth or correcting minor flaws with porcelain veneers will quickly revitalize a smile, often in a single visit.

Our approach to a smile makeover

Our doctors believe in taking a conservative approach to all dentistry, achieving the best results with the least amount of treatment. Each case is evaluated individually. Your doctor wants to get to know you and understand your expectations, goals for the appearance of smile, and your budgetary considerations.

Digital photographs help us plan your new smile.

Although cosmetic dentistry is primarily focused on appearance, our doctors believe that a strong foundation of good oral health is the first step toward creating a lovely smile that you can flash proudly.

Study models show patients how their new smile will look.

Our doctors take a very thorough approach to designing your new smile. These steps include the following.

You and your doctor will select the best shade for your restoration.

You and your doctor will select the best shade for your restoration.

  • Full oral examination
  • TMJ and bite alignment check
  • Custom smile analysis to ensure your smile is properly proportioned
  • Digital imaging software to preview how your smile can look
  • Digital photographs are taken in various positions for planning and presentation
  • Impressions are taken to create study models of your mouth
  • A prototype known as a “wax up” is built and manipulated to idealize your smile
  • You and your doctor use shade guides to select the perfect tonality for your teeth
  • Temporary restorations are used to test your bite, digital photographs are taken and sent to our lab for consultation and fabrication

After you have had the opportunity to “test drive” your smile, we partner with a world-class Vividex when creating your final restorations. We have a direct relationship with our own technicians who are truly artists. Your restoration will never be sent to China or a dental mill for fabrication.

Our high-tech cosmetic procedures

Minimal Preparation Veneers

Cosmetic Dentistry in St. MarysTo correct certain flaws, our doctors use very thin porcelain veneers that require little or no shaving of the surface of the tooth. Veneers may be used to give teeth a permanent whitening, to straighten mildly crooked teeth, change the shape or length of teeth, close gaps and cover chips. In some cases, Our doctors will design and place porcelain veneers in just one visit using the CEREC system.

Dental Bonding

With dental bonding, our doctors can fix many of the same cosmetic flaws that are corrected with veneers This tooth-colored composite is similar to the material used for fillings and provides an economical alternative to porcelain veneers.

Teeth Whitening

Cosmetic Dentistry in St. MarysWe offer both in-house and at-home teeth whitening with treatment such as Zoom, Opalescence and SprayWhite 90. Your whitening treatment is customized to your specific needs and budget.

One-Visit Crowns

Using 3D CAD-CAM technology called CEREC (CEramic REConstruction), our doctors can digitally scan, design and mill a high-quality porcelain crown in one visit. This eliminates the need for a temporary crown and additional visits. Crowns can be used to fix chipped, broken-down or discolored teeth or to fill gaps in teeth.

One-Visit Onlays and Inlays

Cosmetic Dentistry in St. MarysWe can custom design and mill porcelain onlays (coverings that go over the cusps of teeth) and inlays (coverings that fit between the cusps) in only one visit with the CEREC system. Onlays and inlays are stronger than fillings, and have the benefit of preserving more of the natural tooth structure than does placing crowns.

Invisalign® Teeth Straightening

With Invisalign, we provide teeth straightening for adults and teens. The clear plastic aligners are nearly invisible and can be removed when eating, cleaning your teeth or for special occasions.

Dental Implants

Cosmetic Dentistry in St. MarysWe can provide full dental implant services in one convenient location. Dr. Pennington will insert the implant post, and he or Dr. Parker will design a comfortable, well-fitting restoration. Dental implants are truly the modern solution for replacing missing teeth, and they provide a very natural look, feel and function.

Cosmetic Laser Gum Treatment

To create a more aesthetically pleasing smile, our doctors can use a laser to gently remove excess tissue to even out a gum line or fix a smile shows too much gum.

Crown lengthening for gummy smiles

If you feel that your teeth look too short, or that your gums cover too much of your teeth, you probably have what is known as a “gummy” smile. This condition can be quickly and easily remedied with a procedure called crown lengthening. Our doctors use soft tissue lasers to gently remove excess gum tissue and expose more of the natural tooth.

Lasers provide the benefit of sealing the ends of blood vessels during the procedure, so there is no need for cutting or suturing and little or no discomfort following the treatment.

Gum recontouring to straighten gum lines

Even if your teeth are healthy, straight and white, an uneven gum line can adversely affect the aesthetics of your smile. The soft tissue laser procedure used to sculpt gummy smiles is also used for altering an uneven gum line. Excess gum tissue is removed around a single tooth or teeth to create a more consistent appearance.

Smile Makeover Testimonials

Cosmetic Dentistry

Patient Testimonials“I have always seen a dentist regularly and had cleanings twice a year, but I had a lot of old dental work that was deteriorating. I didn’t have any major problems, but knew that I had some sensitive areas, and that I was going to need some work in the future.

“I followed up on the recommendation I had received to Parker & Pennington Dentistry, and on my first visit I was pleased with the staff and the cleaning. I felt confident meeting with Dr. Pennington and his appraisal of my teeth. He acknowledged that I needed to have old dental work replaced, and he watched things closely and spread the work out over the years.

“Dr. Pennington does beautiful work, and I have had good outcomes with everything he has done over the years. He is very careful to match colors when doing crowns, and I have no sensitive areas.

“I tend to get very tense during treatments, and Dr. Pennington and his staff are always concerned with whether I am experiencing any discomfort during the procedure. He has done fillings, some bonding, several crowns and a root canal.

“I always look forward to my forward to my regular cleanings because the hygienist is thorough, and my mouth feels so fresh when she is done.”
