CEREC® One-Visit Dentistry in St. Marys
What is CEREC?
CEREC (CEramic REConstruction) is a state-of-the-art system used to create porcelain tooth restorations such as crowns, bridges, veneers, onlays and inlays in a single visit. CEREC restorations are created right in our office.
Drs. Parker and Pennington have a great deal of experience with designing and placing natural-looking, comfortable restorations, and they evaluate each case individually to create a treatment plan that provides the best possible outcome with the fewest number of procedures.
The CEREC Process
After your doctor has examined your mouth and determined which type of restoration is appropriate for your needs, he will take a “digital” impression with the Omnicam that is sent to the CEREC system and converted to a three-dimensional image. This digital impression eliminates the need for messy, old school impressions!
Designing your restoration
The digital impression is converted to a three-dimensional model via the CEREC software. Your doctor will adjust the design of the three-dimensional image while having a precise virtual view of how it will fit in your mouth, allowing him to create a comfortable, natural-looking restoration.
Fabricating the restoration
The 3D image is sent to the CEREC milling unit that uses a single piece of high-quality porcelain to create your restoration, in just a few minutes. Your new restoration is natural looking, very durable and resistant to cracks.
Creating the perfect shade
Our in-house Certified Dental Technician has over 12 years of experience and can custom tint and glaze your restoration for a perfect match to your natural teeth
Fine-tuning your restoration
After the fabrication is complete, your doctor will test your restoration to ensure a comfortable fit and proper bite. After any necessary fine-tuning, your doctor will polish your restoration and bond it to your tooth (or teeth).
In-office restorations in just one visit!
With this dental CAD/CAM technology we can now offer our patients milled porcelain veneers, crowns, onlays and inlays in just one office visit. This eliminates the need for temporary restorations and additional office visits.
Benefits of CEREC
Faster: CEREC crowns, veneers, bridges and onlays/inlays can be created in a single visit, a time saving convenience.
Stronger: Restorations created with our CEREC system are not only made quickly, they are much stronger. The CEREC system mills restorations out of a single unit of porcelain making them much more resistant to wear and tear. Traditional crowns are made with a process of layering and pressing composite materials.
Biocompatible: CEREC uses nonmetal, biocompatible materials for a healthier restoration.
Beautiful and natural looking: We use a revolutionary e.max material that mimics nature with its opalescence and transparency, much like the natural prisms in tooth enamel.
